I’ve tried other treatment options and haven’t had success how are you/ARFID therapy different?

I take a different approach from other therapists that deal with this disorder. While most therapists focus on the food, I am about removing fear and anxiety, not stimulating or heightening it. If you can listen to me, then you can do this therapy.

This change is often achieved in a single two-hour session, unlike other therapies that might take months.

What ages do you work with?

I specialize in working with individuals aged 10 and above who can understand and desire a wider variety of foods for an improved lifestyle. Success rates for children under 10 are lower as their eating habits are not negatively impacting their lives. They are happy in their bubble and do not recognise the need (or want) for change. I will occasionally accept them on a case-by-case basis, please enquire.

At 15+, success rates soar as these ages realise how ARFID hampers their social life and are seeking independence. Clients aged 20 and above show excellent success rates, driven by personal motivation, and recognizing the limitations and benefits of a varied diet. Their strong desire for freedom and choice makes them ideal clients.

How many sessions do I need and what is the recovery rate for ARFID?

Just one! I’m proud to say most of my clients are trying new foods at the end of one session regardless of how long they have been suffering from ARFID. With the right treatment, everyone should be able to recover from ARFID.

How long is a session?

Each session is 2-hours

Where are you located?

I’m in the UK, in the Manchester area. If you live further afield I offer online remote sessions.

What do I need to do to prepare for my session?

I ask my clients to bring 6-7 foods to try at the end of the session. You will only be asked to try these when you are ready and if you feel comfortable.

Is it hypnosis?

No, there are points in the therapy where it is helpful to be able to relax, but the effectiveness is not related to hypnosis or hypnotic ability.
